Issue Position

The 4th LA Congressional District is the proud home of both Barksdale AFB and Ft Polk. National Defense is one of the highest priorities of our federal government and I will insure they have the funds, materials, personal and all resources necessary to fulfill their missions. That said, I need to point out an alarming fact: our national defense budget is the size of at least the next 17 largest national defense budgets COMBINED. I don't think we are paying our service men and women too much, rather Washington DC has been invaded by the industrial military complex to keep our spending as high as possible, sending our limited tax dollars to these grossly bloated corporations. We are currently spending more money on this one area of government than we need or can sustain. It's time to end the reign of the military industrial complex.

I support the maintenance of a sufficient military to defend the United States against aggression. The United States should both avoid entangling alliances and abandon its attempts to act as policeman for the world.
